Tim Bridgman: Porsche Carrera Cup GB mid-term review (06-7-09)
With a seven-week mid-season break in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, teams and drivers have time to reflect on the opening 10 races and prepare for the second half of the season, which starts at Snetterton on 1/2 August.

Tim Bridgman (Team Parker Racing) ended the first half with a three-point championship lead over Tim Harvey and Bridgman says that he hopes he has got his bad luck out of the way early in the season.

"It's been an up and down season in the races so far, but no one can expect a perfect season," said

Bridgman. "But we've got our bad luck out of the way to start with and from a speed point of view it's been fine, and we've been on pole for every race so far."

Bridgman says that the race weekends at Thruxton (April) and Donington (May) have been the low points of his season so far. "Unfortunately in the races there have been some hiccups, the biggest being the driveshaft failure at Donington. Considering the problems we had at Thruxton, third and fifth wasn't the end of the world."

He says that team and driver are working extremely well together. "We've done a good enough job to have won all the races, but no matter how good a job the team and driver does, you still need the luck on your side. I'm very happy with my own performance and I don’t feel that the team has made any mistakes," said Bridgman. "There is no reason to change our approach to the weekends and as long as a bit of luck is on our side, we'll be fine. We've had our bad luck early in the season."

Bridgman says that he is a stronger racer this year than during his debut season in the Carrera Cup GB in 2008. "I've definitely developed since last season. I refocused over the winter and worked on where we could improve on last year," he said. "There was continuity staying with Team Parker Racing and the cars and the circuits were the same. That's the first time I've had that; I've always moved on or sideways before.

"I'm having my best year yet, performance wise. I think I'm getting the most out of myself. For instance, after my qualifying lap at Oulton Park I got out of the car feeling that I'd done everything I could do. It really was the limit and when you do one of those laps, it’s almost better than a race win. If you put the biggest effort you can into qualifying, it makes you're life easier for the rest of the weekend.

"I'm certainly stronger than I was last year and I'm enjoying myself. No matter where we are on points, we're going to fight for pole positions and race wins all the way to round 20."
